Disney's The Little Mermaid is an American animated television series produced by Walt Disney Television Animation based on the 1989 Disney film of the same name. It features the adventures of Ariel as a mermaid prior to the events of the film. This series is the first Disney television series to be spun off from a major animated film. Some of the voice actors of the film reprise their roles in the series, among them Jodi Benson as Ariel, Samuel E. Wright as Sebastian, Kenneth Mars as King Triton, and Pat Carroll as Ursula.

Set in 1926 under Japanese colonial rule, a young maid risks her life to save a wounded independence activist, only to be drawn into the dangerous world of resistance after losing her voice and traveling to Gyeongseong in search of justice. Amid espionage, betrayal, and awakening ideals, their lives and love become entwined with Korea’s fight for independence.

Dyesebel is a fantasy Philippine drama that aired on GMA Network. It is an adaptation of a famous graphic novel about a mermaid created by Mars Ravelo. The series premiered on April 28, 2008 and was expected to air for 25 weeks or 125 episodes, with Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes in the lead roles, and Joyce E. Bernal at the helm. The series ended on October 17, 2008. It was internationally aired on GMA Pinoy TV, which became a huge success to viewers abroad. Dyesebel is a popular mermaid character created by renowned graphic novelist Mars Ravelo. The story has been adapted into five films and a spin-off, throughout the timeline of 1953 to 1996. Edna Luna, Vilma Santos, Alma Moreno, Alice Dixson, and Charlene Gonzales had all played the lead role in the big screen, and all of them reached greater heights after playing the role. Ara Mina played a cameo role in this character in the television series Darna.

Aryana is a 2012 Philippine fantasy drama that aired on ABS-CBN. It stars teen star Ella Cruz in her first leading role. The series is composed of three seasons and two hundred episodes. The first season had ended on August 17, 2012 about "The Return of Aryana as a Human Again". The second season aired on August 20, 2012 about "The True Identity of Aryana", and the 3RD Season aired on October 29, 2012 until it ended on January 25, 2013.

The story follows a mermaid who makes a forbidden wish to be loved by a human. Following her death, she is reborn 200 years later into modern-day Japan in Lake Biwa, where she learns to adjust in a human world.
