Sakiko, a young wife who lives with her loving husband, is arrested one night for her husband's murder. Sakiko flees with determination and decides to pursue the real murderer.
Sakiko is on trial for the murder of her husband, runs away from the court, and chases after a man in a black shirt. However, he is not the "tattooed man" but a freelance writer, Shuji Takeda.
Sakiko decides to throw herself into the nightlife, earn money by becoming a prostitute, and find clues about the "tattooed man".
One year and two months after the escape. Sakiko visits freelance writer Takeda again. She orders Takeda to observe the trial in order to get a clue as to who the real culprit is.
Sakiko is in pursuit of the "tattooed man" who killed her husband. Detective Izaki, who has been relentlessly pursuing Sakiko, finally locates her.
Sakiko is finally arrested. But Detective Izaki wants to cooperate and takes off the handcuffs - and a strange partnership forms for Takeda, Ichikawa, and Izaki..
Sakiko loses her three friends and a clue to the real culprit all at once. However, when Sakiko saw the news that Takeda said "Kosakai" to the press, a man's face came to Sakiko's mind.

Sakiko finally understands that Manjiyama, who stabbed Izaki, is an enemy. Izaki is wounded and Sakiko is left alone in the guest room where they entered to escape from the enemy.
Sakiko and Izaki go into hiding in an apartment. Sakiko's friend Kanae falls suddenly ill, leading her to ask her daughter Aoi to help Sakiko.
Sakiko is summoned to a mountain villa after her only son, Kazuki, who she gave birth to in secret, is kidnapped. Izaki, who warns her of the danger, rides in with her. At the lodge, Kagawa is there and demands to speak with Sakiko alone. There, he reveals the truth about her husband murder.
Sakiko finally confronts the "tattooed man" she has been searching for.
Ayu has lost the meaning of life after she has been working as a prostitute. However, her cold life change when she meets Yoshiyuki whom she wants to help with his heart problems. The two love each other, but Yoshiyuki's father doesn't allow their feelings. Ayu goes back to prostituting only to help Yoshiyuki earn money for his operation.
