Season 1 · Episode 1
As Super Sentai fanboy Akagi Nobuo, age 29, is hard at work in Akihabara, a woman named Hiroyo Hakase appears before him and asks him to “become Akiba Red!”
Nobuo is struck with disappointment at the discovery that Akibarangers’ feats are neither “Official” nor actually “real.” With Red unable to transform, Mitsuki and Yumeria struggle against a brutal foe. Then, the heartbroken Nobuo encounters...
A drunken Nobuo attempts to save a girl from a pushy club owner’s advances, and transforms into Akiba Red. With this, the Akibarangers discover a new power! Following Hiroyo’s suggestion to try getting hammered, our heroes really nail their foe!
Mitsuki explains that she is going to a martial arts training camp, and because of their drunken mishap on their last battle, Nobuo and Yumeria are asked not to enter any delusions while she is away. The next day, the duo go to Otamix for Yumeria to try out some new costumes, and when she does, the delusions begin…
As Yumeria’s mother arrives for a sudden visit, Nobuo dives into a delusion based on Sentai family-visit episodes. Yumeria’s mother is anything but typical, though: she was a famous cosplayer in her own right! This hot mama is more than the Akibarangers can handle!
Nobuo takes a job to deliver something for the studio director at Toei in Tokyo. For him, this is the Holy Grail for any Sentai fan. Thinking that they might learn to finally make the Akibaranger an official team, he takes Mitsuki along. After delivering the package, they meet the legendary stunt and suit actor Kazuo Niibori. Fascinated by his sword play, Mitsuki applies as an apprentice.
After somehow escaping the Delusion, Malshina opens up her own Evil Base in Akihabara. Even worse, she has taken Hakase hostage. Can the Akibarangers stop her plans, and what is the connection between Malshina and Hakase?
A Toei producer calls the Sentai Cafe, telling the Akibarangers that he wants to make them an official Sentai team. However, Hakase is suspicious of the sudden timing of the call, but the Akibarangers travel to Ginza anyway. Meanwhile, Hakase tries to discover the secrets behind Malshina and the Moe Moe Z-Cune.
For the safety of the real world, Hakase disbands the team. Despite attempting to return to their normal lives, they are met by Malshina and a mysterious man who has their MMZ-01s.
With the mysterious Doctor Z now in control of Blatantly Evil Marketing Firm B, Hiroyo finally reveals the truth regarding the Akibarangers, the Delusional World and their connection to the Z-Cune Aoi anime, even as they find themselves against a tough new opponent.
As the Akibarangers bid farewell to Nobuo Akagi, Hakase’s half-brother Takuma Tsuzuki takes on the role of Akiba Red. As Nobuo is preparing to leave Akihabara for the United States, he comes to a shocking revelation about their world.
With Nobuo’s discovery that their world is in fact a television show, the Akibarangers must subvert the final episode tropes to prevent the end of their world.
Nobou receives a DVD from the creator of the show telling them to review their mistakes for the show and if they do, they may be renewed for a second season…

It was also unusual in featuring many comic references to film-making and television broadcasting.
