Season 1 · Episode 1
The Empire State Lottery is up to $145 million, give or take a few bucks, on a day when most New Yorkers are busy going about their daily routine.
A news crew comes to profile the gang as the reality of the lottery win sets in. The girls go on a high-end shopping spree in advance of the Gold Star block party, as Antonio and his family deal with the aftermath of the gang's new status. Meanwhile, the police investigate the Gold Star robbery.
The group makes plans for receiving their winnings, but Leanne is tormented by the possibility she is being followed and hatches a desperate plan. Meanwhile, Denise sets up a meeting with "the cable guy" – the woman she suspects of having an affair with her husband – with shocking results. Bob receives some life-changing news and needs to decide how he will deal with it. And Detective Minetti is convinced that he has the key to the robbery and won't stop until he cracks someone in the Gold Star "family" to help him break the case.
Fantasy becomes reality when the Gold Star crew's lottery winnings hit their bank accounts, but their pal Antonio, who didn't win, is feeling financial pressures at home. To ease the burden, his wife Bianca surprises him by getting a job at Gold Star, too. Matt learns that Leanne and Emma are in trouble and on the run to Niagara Falls. Worried, he follows them to try to help. Denise confronts Ted about her discovery and Nicky's past catches up with him and those close to him,
The Gold Star crew decides to turn Antonio's birthday party into a two-day, glitzy extravaganza trip to Atlantic City. However, Bob, the driving force behind this fantasy celebration, may have an ulterior motive behind the trip. Mary gets her hopes up when she finds an engagement ring in Matt's bag. Meanwhile, Gloria extracts a promise from Bob, and Leanne and Emma are being stalked by a mysterious man.
The arrival of a corporate “yes” man who will oversee the sale of the Gold Star triggers a surprising reaction from the crew and sparks their independence: Samira forces the question of inviting Nicky over to dinner with her family; Nicky sets out to make his dream of owning his own night club come true; and Leanne finally decides on a course of action to protect Emma while still harboring feelings for Matt. Meanwhile, Bob is devastated when he finds out what the corporation really intends to do with Gold Star.
Bob offers his Gold Star “family” an investment opportunity in his vision of a new and improved Gold Star even as his own health is crumbling. When Samira auditions for a famous violin teacher to help her chances of getting into Julliard, Nicky is suspicious that he wants more than just her talent. Meanwhile Matt and Mary not only disagree about how to handle their future finances, Mary is determined to keep Matt out of Leanne’s life. Finally, a desperate Leanne summons her courage and goes after Emma’s birth mother in an attempt to keep her daughter.
When Bob is rushed to the ER with Gloria and the Gold Star gang at his side, his whole future hangs in the balance. Meanwhile Leanne doesn’t wait until the outcome of the criminal trial before she makes her next move against Emma’s biological mother for custody. Meanwhile, Mary’s agenda gets in the way of Matt’s concern for Bob and Leanne, and Nicky and Samira seem totally in love until Samira receives Naveed jumps back in the game.
