Uta Sakura lives in Hanamichi Town. One day while on a walk, she meets a fairy named Purirun. Purirun has come in search of Kirakiland’s savior called Idol Precure.
The Queen of Kirakiland, Pikarine, tells Uta about Team Chokkiri and their boss, Darkine. Meanwhile, Cure Idol is going viral on TV and social media as a “mysterious new idol.”
Nana, who is feeling down about a mistake she made during her piano competition, is invited to Uta’s family’s home, Café Glitter. Uta and Uta’s little sister Hamori cheer her up, and she is ready to do her best at the school welcome event…
Just like it did with Cure Idol, the word is spreading about Cure Wink. Meanwhile, another popular “legendary idol” Kaito Hibiki drops by Cafe Glitter.
A man named Tanaka appears before Uta and Nana and says he knows they're Idol Precures. Meanwhile, a message arrives that says, “I want to hire the Pretty Cures.”
Uta and Nana get to know Kokoro Shigure, president of the Cure Idol and Cure Wink Research Club. Purirun wants to become friends with Kokoro and follows her after school.
Kokoro is shocked to see Cure Idol and Cure Wink battle the Makkuranda, and runs away, saying “I can’t do that!” She tries to forget about the Idol Precures that she loves by putting away all her merchandise and dancing her troubles away, but…
Kokoro says she wants to study Cure Idol and Cure Wink, so they decide to have a sleepover at Uta’s house.
On their way home from school, Nana suddenly begins acting strangely. When she continues to say and do strange things, Uta and Kokoro start to count the “Seven Wonders of Nana.”
The Idol Precure songs are being made into a CD, so Cure Idol and the others start recording. But Cure Kyun-Kyun is so nervous that she can’t sing well.
Inspired by the school broadcast, Uta and the others begin to think about their dreams for the future. To help Uta, who is having trouble deciding, Nana and Kokoro begin “Uta’s Dream Search Project.”
A new arrival to Hanamichi Town from Kirakiland is discovered. Purirun says it’s Meroron, and Uta and her friends go searching for them.
Uta and her friends form a girls volleyball team for the school ball-game tournament. On her team is Wakaba, a member of the official school team. She’s in love with Shota, another volleyball player, and declares that she’ll tell him her feelings if they win.
Kokoro’s mother has to work despite it being the weekend, and Kokoro sees her off. Kokoro buys her a carnation for Mother’s Day and has trouble coming up with a good message for the card, so she drops by Cafe Glitter to get some advice.
Meroron is jealous of Purirun’s relationship with Uta, so Uta and the others, who also want to be closer with Meroron, encourage Purirun to spend more time with Meroron. Purirun invites Meroron to dress in matching outfits and go on a date.
Idol Precure is invited to appear at the Hanamichi Town Festival. Uta and the others want to make the event a success, so they ask Tanaka to help them make an intensive practice regimen.
Purirun desperately wants to help Uta and decides to go to Kirakiland with Meroron. Meanwhile, Uta and the others are preparing to go on stage at the Hanamichi Town Festival.
A mysterious duo has suddenly appeared: Cure Zukyoon and Cure Kiss. Uta wakes up in the middle of a dream about Cure Zukyoon, and even at school her head is full of Cure Zukyoon all day. Kokoro sees this and determines that Uta has become a fan of Cure Zukyoon.
Cure Idol and her friends chase after Cure Zukyoon and Cure Kiss but lose sight of them. Sometime later, a magazine reporter who wants to learn the truth about the duo appears, and Uta and the others offer to help.
Uta and the others learn that Purirun gave up all their memories of them to become a Precure. Uta and the others invite the fairies on a picnic to try to recover Purirun's memories.
Uta, who fainted due to a cold, gets upset and cries about how Purirun's memories aren't returning. But once she feels better, she visits Purirun and proposes they make new memories together, and they begin taking selfies.
Idol Precure and ZukyoonKiss are hired for a promotional campaign showdown at Pretty Holic. But Meroron sees Purirun’s usual carefree attitude and comes up with an idea…
The Precures are asked to sign a present for a fan, and they realize they’ve never made their own signatures. At that moment, they hear the news that Kaito Hibiki has resumed his activities.
When Uta and the others learn that Tanaka hasn’t taken a summer holiday in years, they offer to do his usual jobs for him so he can rest. But when faced with a sudden day off, he’s not sure what to do with himself.
Thanks to an idea from Nana, they decide to visit some sunflower fields. Nana enjoys the vast expanses of blooming sunflowers, but she can’t stop worrying about Zakkuri.
They decide to create an Idol Precure and ZukyoonKiss fanclub and Kokoro works especially hard at it. While answering a question about favorite sayings for the fanclub newsletter, Kokoro remembers something from her early years.
As the Idol Precure and ZukyoonKiss Fanclub gains momentum, Uta and the others decide to begin making videos for their fans on their CureTube channel. Then, at school check-in day during their summer holidays, Uta receives a letter.
Uta and the others visit Grandpa Heiji Sakura’s house. They bring the family dog, Kyutaro, along and when something makes Uta feel lonely, he wants to help cheer her up.
In response to a fan question, Idol Precure say, “We are all friends.” However, Cure Kiss can’t accept those words and takes Cure Zukyoon away, saying, “We’re not friends.”
Meroron is locked in a dark capsule generated by the legendary Heart Kirari Lock. Uta and the others call Pikarine and ask about the most precious thing that Meroron locked away.
When asked, "Why is Cure Idol always in the middle?" Uta realizes that she has been monopolizing the center position. Uta and the others listen to Kokoro's explanation and begin to think about the center position in Idol Precure.
Meroron reads a book depicting school life, and dreams of going to school with Purirun. As they can’t attend in their Precure forms, they worry they will never get to attend school, when they realize…
Uta and the others receive a fan letter from a sumo wrestler they’ve met before, Kurikyuta. But when they reunite, Kurikyuta says he’s going to quit sumo and join Idol Precure.
Hamori finds an old Cafe Glitter menu, from when it first opened. She decides to investigate as Detective Hamorin when she spots a menu item that is crossed out.
Kaito gets a pair of tickets to the amusement park from Old Man Ren and invites Uta to join him. On the day, Uta waits to meet Kaito and feels nervous as they enter the park together.
After a discussion with everyone at the Idol Precure Research Club, Purirun suggests that they hold a concert, and Uta and the others agree. Tanaka books them a venue much larger than they expected!
Uta chases after Kaito who just passed by, but then she sees how sad he looks, murmuring the name “Kazuma.”
As Halloween approaches, Uta reveals that she is extremely frightened of ghosts. When they decide to enter the Hanamichi Town costume contest, Nana formulates a strategy to help Uta overcome her fears.
Kokoro spots the captain of the school Dance Club, Sunda, practicing furiously. When Kokoro, Uta, and the others hear that he wants to win the Dancing Star Cup, they help him practice.
Nana and her father travel to France to attend the concert of her mother, who is active overseas as a pianist. As they spend some long-awaited time together as a family, Nana’s mother suggests something to her.
It’s election season at school, and Chiyo Kai is running for student council president. But one of her campaign promises is to abolish the Idol Precure Research Club. Kokoro tries to convince her otherwise, but…
Kaito Hibiki’s first tour since resuming activities is at its last show. Before the concert, he stops by Cafe Glitter and tells Uta why he chose Hanamichi Town for the final stop on his tour.
The president of a talent agency happens to hear Uta singing at Cafe Glitter and invites her to make her idol debut. She’s encouraged by everyone and enthusiastically tells him, “I want to become an idol!” But then…
Cure Idol and the others have gathered all the Kirarun Ribbons, so they go to Kirakiland to restore the Big Kirakira Ribbon, but...!
Christmas is coming soon, but Hanamichi Town isn’t feeling festive due to the impact of the Darkranda attacks. Uta and the others come up with some ideas to help Hanamichi Town feel Kirakilala.
After watching the first sunrise of the new year from the hill by the Heart Tree, Uta and the gang get together at Tanaka’s house. At Tanaka’s suggestion, they all transform into Precures before beginning their New Year’s Party, but then the doorbell rings as if someone was waiting for that moment.
As black petals flutter and anxiety spreads throughout town, Uta proposes holding a concert and inviting a “special guest.”
Darkine appears in Hanamichi Town as a giant shadow.
Overwhelmed by Darkine’s power, Uta is locked away in pitch-black darkness. Standing alone in a silent world created by Darkine’s darkness, Uta summons something she can rely on.
A sudden Aragami attack in San Francisco and at the TAC headquarters proves that the monsters are still active. Now, the TAC must travel to the United States to solve the mystery of the Aragami’s reemergence. And end the threat once and for all.
