Season 1 · Episode 1
Quim tries to sell a pack of black Suitcases but the problem is that they come locked and the only way to open them is putting a code, a code that no one knows.
Quim is getting into financial trouble - even his double-headed coin can't help him win. He's gambling away his money with no sign of stopping, and he's already many escudos down. Nevertheless, when Vilela challenges him to a winner-takes-all poker game, Quim is eager to host it in his flat in Sapadores.
After buying a car from Vilela, the Fintas brothers try to sell them to another client, the problem? the car is in awful conditions. Still Quim's eloquence helps and they sell the car for a good money. Later the brothers go out to the discotheque.
Quim and Grandad are horrified to hear that Joca is dating a police officer called Sandra. But while Grandad is worried about Sandra knowing about the Fintas' sullied reputation, Quim is sweating over the amount of dodgy gear stored in the flat.
Quim meets Pirampo in Café da Dora, and he's stunned to hear that Paulina Dias, his ex-fiancée, is back in Sapadores - twelve years after she left for Paris. Despite their engagement, Paulina left Quim for another Mod with a faster scooter. But with her return, Quim is willing to forgive and forget, and it's not long before they are engaged again - much to the disapproval of Joca and Grandad. Things get worse when Paulina moves into the flat and refuses to do her share of the housework.
Joca is in love, what's the problem? She's 40 years old. Quim and Grandpa don't like the idea.
When Quim and Joca's estranged father shows up on Christmas Day after an eighteen-year absence, the Fintas family is suddenly thrown into turmoil. Worse still, he claims he has a hereditary disease that could also affect Quim and Joca. However, following blood tests, it comes to light that this might not be the brothers' only problem.
Quim's arch-enemy from school turns up in Sapadores, but this time he's known as Detective Inspector Jacinto from the Police. Having known Quim and his wily ways since they were at school together, Jacinto knows exactly who to watch when he's on the trail of some stolen microwaves.
The wear and tear of climbing twelve floors takes its toll as Grandad's legs finally give way. And after a visit to the Doctors' it is recommended that they seek some different housing for the Fintas family - on the ground floor. Joca has just been elected Chairman of the Housing Committee, and with a little pressure from Quim, he persuades housing and welfare co-ordinator Miss Madalena to move the Fintas into a three-bedroom bungalow in another street. All seems hunky dory, until Miss Madalena catches Quim and Grandad sharing a celebratory .
Quim tries to sell an old and worthless drawer to a antiques expert.
Quim is determined to get his revenge on big-headed painter and decorator Caiado for flogging him some dodgy paint. So, when he learns of Caiado's plans to redecorate Wilson and Victoria's living room, he convinces them of the Fintas' credentials to do the job better. Victoria isn't impressed, but the Fintas get the job anyway. Left alone in the flat to decorate, with only Victoria's beloved pet canary for company, what could possibly go wrong.
When Joca helps a drunken woman on the street, he is stunned when she looks petrified, accuses him of man-handling her, and promptly cries "rape!" Without thinking straight, and fearing the consequences he decides to leg it.
Joca takes the bold decision to leave the Fintas Independent Traders to go it alone, but, without Quim's financial assistance, he begins to struggle and needs a miracle to survive. However, when the chance comes to use all his available money to buy something potentially valuable at an auction - which might change his fortunes and prove Quim wrong - he has a big decision to make.
