Sue Thomas, a deaf woman with an extraordinary ability to read lips, moves to Washington, D.C to begin her new job as a F.B.I agent. However when she arrives she finds out that the job is not as exciting as she would have hoped.
Now that Sue is an official member of the team, Jack is beginning to train her and he's got the perfect case to start with: an anonymous bomb threat against an old F.B.I agent.

After Jack and Bobby arrest a drug dealer they, along with Sue, interrogate him in order to capture other drug dealers in the trade. Meanwhile, the rest of the team is focused on the brand-new offices on the fifth floor.

After Bobby tries to protect a woman from an attacker, he is suspended from the FBI when the man turns out to be a Sudanese diplomat with immunity from US law enforcement. When the man is connected to a slave trade market, Darcy gets into some trouble of her own after she tells the public about the story.
The team races against time to find a crate of strontium which they believe will be used to make a dirty bomb. Lucy fears for her family when they are coming to her sister's wedding.
Drivers of two security trucks that were carrying money, go missing while on duty. While the team searches for them, Sue helps Lucy improve her sign language when the two go to a deaf club, where talking is not allowed.
When an unsuccessful raid by the FBI coincides with the disappearance of one of Sue's informants, the team believes that terrorists were the source of the leak. Eventually, it turns out that an aide to the Senator from Jack's hometown of Wisconsin was behind it.
The team's favorite waitress seems to be involved in software piracy and has been using Tara's business card in the process. Myles is then being considered a candidate for the new face of the FBI.
Trying to catch a long-awaited criminal, the team uses a jail-bound con man to capture him. The informant turns out to be Bobby's father, and Bobby is unhappy.
Sue goes on an FBI and DEA task force. Has love hit Levi and Sue? Charlie and Troy try to fix something at Lucy and Sue's apartment.
Sue meets Logan Taylor who says her dad helped catch the hunter Jerome Soggins in the 80's and tells Lucy, Sue and Charlie (who asked Sue for help in solving the case) that her dad told her that the wrong man was convicted. Jack has to give a deposition to clear his name of killing the chicken. Myles & Sue talk to Jerome who was convicted of two murders and had hoped Ben Taylor would clear his name and request a DNA sample and hope to match Jerome's DNA with the old evidence. Sue Myles look for cab drivers picture with an ""X"" drawn through the picture. Darcy tells Sue Myles and Bobby that the hunter wrote to a reporter but the letters were sold to someone. Logan learns that her dad did love her by keeping letters and pictures. Tim reads Darcy's article on the hunter case which leads him to think his dad is the hunter and says his dad was violent man and would recall seeing his dad clean himself up. Sue is asked by someone from high school to attend her wedding, One problem Sue's friend made fun of her. Sue and the gang have to find 5 prisoners that escaped after a prison van and semi truck crashed. As the gang looks for Jed they find that Wendy Stack testified against him because of abuse to wonder why she would visit him after the trial. The team finds out that evil Jed passed through a choke point to keep from finding the diamonds. As the wedding date for Sue's friend draws near Sue doesn't want to have old feelings of how she was treated to come back. Jack tries to cut a deal with someone to find Jed. Sue learns that David can't go to the wedding to attend a flower show. Sue is picked on at the weeding by someone who thinks Levi is a seeing eye dog after Sue explains Levi is a hearing dog. The football player finds out after visiting Sue that he should have stopped people from picking on her and the growing up can be hard to do.
Lucy gets worried about a man who has fallen in love with her mom, Jack's mentor is shot which leads Jack to wonder if the discovery about the drug labs had anything to do with the death of his mentor.
