Based on Gao Ming's 2010 book "Genius on the Left, Lunatic on the Right," Letv's 2015 web series "Alpha Beta" delves into the complexities of mental illness. Featuring Jordan Chan, Alan Kuo, Stephy Tang, and Cherrie Ying, the narrative revolves around a psychiatrist, a couple grappling with mental health issues, and their interactions with various mental health patients. Just before their wedding, Gao Kai's fiancée Tian Xin suffers a car accident that leaves her mute. Her cousin, psychiatrist Li Shi Hui, is optimistic about Tian Xin's recovery. However, upon returning to her job, Shi Hui is suffers severe headaches and hallucinations, leading her to lash out at her supervisor. During her assessment at Shi Hui's facility, Tian Xin reveals a remarkable talent for soothing a volatile patient. Consequently, Shi Hui decides to harness Tian Xin's unique ability to assist in the treatment of other patients burdened by their traumatic pasts and internal struggles.
