The Caretaker

The trials and tribulations of Natalka and Petro. The sweethearts plan to get married, however, Natalka's father does not approve of the marriage because Petro's not affluent enough to keep Natalka in the manner he thought that she should be kept. Petro goes off to earn the required fortune. With no news from Petro for five years, Natalka succumbs to her mother's wishes and finally accepts her next offer of marriage, which happens to come from an old, but relatively wealthy government official.

A sadistic serial rapist and murderer of young women terrorizes a small province in 1980s South Korea. To prevent further crimes, three increasingly desperate detectives with conflicting methods race against time to unravel the violent mind of the killer in a futile effort to solve the case.

They view the apartment, but before they can leave discover that the door has accidentally been locked and they are now trapped inside together. A connection quickly forms between them as they begin sharing things about their lives, and they find themselves attracted to one another.

The story, set in the context of the construction of long-distance power lines, captures the life and work of a group of fitters who come to a mountain village to electrify the local cooperative.
