When billionaire Jean-Marc Clement learns that he is to be satirized in an off-Broadway revue, he passes himself off as an actor playing him in order to get closer to the beautiful star of the show, Amanda Dell.

Traveling con artist Harold Hill targets the naïve residents of a small town in 1910s Iowa by posing as a boys' bandleader to raise money before he can skip town.

The film is about the immense distances between stars and the long durations we would have to endure in order to traverse them, even if utilizing methods of propulsion at the very limits of scientific knowledge. Ultimately, it comes down to our understanding of physics and the fundamental laws that govern the Universe.
