Since the beginning of the war, there has been a frontline in the west where the traces of horrible fights disappear on the spot:The Battle of the Atlantic. England, traditionally the leading naval power worldwide was to be cut off from all supplies by a blockade while the balance of power is not in favor of the German Kriegsmarine. Their commander-in-chief complains that "the war was five years early." That a victory seems achievable at the beginning is the result of a weapon that was only known in Germany at the height of perfection and drill: submarines.

Theatrical Inka - Danuta Siedzikówna - survived the death of her mother, who was murdered by the Gestapo in Bialystok in 1943. Her father died in Tehran after leaving a Soviet gulag. The orphaned sisters, Inka and her siblings, were raised by their grandmother. The heroine was an AK nurse. She was sentenced to death for joining the unit of Major Szendzielarz alias Łupaszko, which was subordinate to the legal authorities of the Republic of Poland in exile. The judges relied on false testimony from militiamen, which, by the way, did not fully incriminate her. In a secret message to her grandmother, Siedzikówna wrote: "Tell my grandmother that I behaved as I should."

The Vietnam War was a prolonged, expensive and divisive conflict between the communist government of North Vietnam and South Vietnam whose main ally was the United States. Yet it often gets overlooked and is referred to as a "pointless war" that took the lives of over 3 million people including over 58,000 Americans and 1.5 million innocent Vietnamese civilians.

Melia Nobbs, a young Canadian woman, supports both her invalid father Ambrose and brother Henry. Seeing her brother with his medals, Melia realizes that her sacrifices for him and her country have not been in vain, and that in her own way, she has served her country.
